Not long ago, I got a request to email the contents of a chart for inclusion in a management report. Seemed simple enough, I would simply right-click on the chart, copy the chart to an image on my clipboard, then send the image off to the analyst. This is when I realized the default settings in Qlikview do not work the way I anticipated. When I paste the image from my clipboard into the email, the entire chart caption was missing. It took me quite a while to figure out how to fix this issue, so I wanted to pass along the solution, in hopes this helps someone else. The following post, “Qlikview – Include Chart Caption in Copy Image”, will explain how to solve this problem.

I often add more in my Chart Titles than the default “use first expression label”. I’ve found this little feature to be a great way to add some additional summary information about the chart. For instance, let’s say I have the following chart:
In the chart above, my caption has informative text, telling the user a little more about the contents of the chart. When I try to copy this chart to my clipboard (image), then paste into a Word document, I get the following:
The caption text does not appear in the pasted image. I wanted to include this, so it took a while, but I finally found the solution.
In the QVW, go to “Settings –> User Preferences”, then go into the Export tab.
Make sure the “Chart” option is checked within the “Copying to Clipboard” section, where it looks for options for “Include Caption and Border”. See above.
Now when I try to copy this chart to my clipboard (image), then paste into a Word document, I get the following:
